Montenegro's Healthcare System and Insurance: A Guide for Foreigners

Montenegro has both public and private healthcare. The public system serves insured workers and certain residents, with quality strongest in larger centres like Podgorica; private clinics offer short waits, high quality and prices well below Western Europe. Importantly, a valid health insurance policy covering the application period is usually required for a residence permit — options include international cover, local private insurance, or company-provided plans.
